Rocky's Ackerman steering and closeup view of the front coil-over oil dampers with adjustable spring rates. To get more damping, I use heavier oil in the shocks.
The front steering servo is shown in full left lock position. This gives Rocky a turning circle of around 1 metre. With rear wheel steering, turning circle is 28cm!
The inner side of the wheel hub (at right) is where the wheel encoder strip will be mounted for each wheel. This keeps it out of the way, and allows flexible mounting of the IR detector without fouling the wheels.
